The traditional portrait is one of the most common images seen in the art community. The basic composition has the ability to tell a multitude of stories and express one’s identity in different ways. In my body of work, I focus on making unconventional portraits in order to share someone’s story in a contemporary way. With this piece, in particular, I chose to highlight legs and feet and the marks that come with everyday life. Whether it be from the imprints from work boots, scars from our childhood, or even the color of our toenails, there is a story behind it all.
